Middlesex to wit,

The Information of Joseph Simmonds< no role > and
John Hardy< no role > Servants to Joseph Capps< no role > of Oxford
Street Linen Draper taken before me this 19th.
day of January 1785 .

Who being on Oath say and first the said Joseph Simmonds< no role >
says that on Saturday last a person now present who calls herself Mary Morton< no role > came to his
Masters Shop and bought two Handkerchiefs and a Quarter of
a Yard of Flannel [..] that after said Morton was gone out of
said Shop Informant Suspectedsaidshe had taken something
away with her; that he Informed his Master of his suspicious who
immediately Ordered John Hardy< no role > to follow her, And the said
John Hardy< no role > says that he immediately followed said Morton
into the Street when Informant told her she had something more
than her Own, that on bringing her back to the shop two pieces of
Handkerchiefs now produced fell from her on the step of the
door of his said Masters Shop and another piece of Handkerchief
now produced Informant caught as they were falling from said
Morton, when he immediately Secured her.
