Middlesex to Wit


The Examination of Melvin Simmonds< no role > charged with
feloniously and burglariously breaking and entering
the Dwelling House of Thomas Powl< no role > Esqr . of
Buckingham Street in the Parish of Saint Martin in
the Fields in the said County in the Night time and
stealing silver Plate and divers Goods
taken before me this 29th.. day of November 1784

Who saith that he hath known William Flint< no role > now in Custody
about a Week-That about three Weeks ago this Examinant was sitting
at a Public House in a [..] Street Saint Giles's eating a Sheeps Head
when one William Hammond< no role > came in drank with him and went
away-That about a Week or ten Days ago, he met said William Hammond< no role >
in Holborn, who asked him to go with him to a Friend, whom he
wanted to See-that he went with him to the Lodging of a Man
whom he afterwards understood [..] she said William Flint< no role > at a
Green Grocers in Cow Lane [..] field-That said Hammond went
up Stairs to said Flint and brought him down, when they all three
went to a Public House opposite, where they had each a Glass of Gin
That said Hammond observed to this Examinant that Flint had been
on board the Ballast Lighters, and signified that said Flint lived by
robbing, soon after which they all parted, and this Examinant went
to Saint Giles's and slept-That the next day, this Examinant again
called at said Flints Lodging, where he saw another Man, whose Name
he doth not know-that Flint was not at Home-that he staid talking
out of Place, and much distressed, when said Man proposed to him
to go into the Country with him and not a Grazier whom he knewwho
was going out of Town and desired him to meet him as Yesterday
