The Voluntary Information of Benjamin Wolfe< no role >
of Cock Hill Shadwell Tobacconist taken
before one this 6th.. day of November 1784

Who being upon Oath says that about 4 o Clock on
Thursday morning the 7th. of October last a person now present
who calls himself Edward Payne< no role > knocked at his DoorThat
said Payne is an Apprentice to a Watchman at Wapping
Old Stairs , and well known to this Informant - That said
Payne came to the Bed side of this Informant, shewed him
137 Dollars and 14 Watches and asked, if he would purchase
them, saying they were his Share at presentThat May

< no role > James Gray< no role > and John Dolphin< no role > now present together
with Joseph Church< no role > , John Miles< no role > and Thomas Brown< no role > and
a Person belonging to the Ship which he afterwards said
was the Cook (Gray excepted) had taken their Shares to
Cushmore and Farmers as much as they could carry,
and that the rest were left at Old Browns, where they were
landed, but did not tell him any thing more about the
Robbery they had committedThat said Payne left said
Watches and Dollars with this Informant who told him
that he could not do any Business till Saturday Night
Thursday and Friday being Holidays and Saturday their
SabbathThat said Payne said he would take the remainder
of his Share, which was about ten Hundred Dollars to
his own House

That the same Day said Payne and James Gray< no role > came to
this Informant at the Synagogue That said Gray told him
that he should have his Share, if he would give him the same
Price that Payne was to have, to which this Informant
agreedThat the same Night this Informant met said
