taken
before me this 5th.. day of February 1784
Who being upon Oath say, and first the said George Snowball< no role >
says that a person now present who calls himself Robert Jones< no role >
came into this Informants Shop in the Strand
aforesaid
and said he wanted a Quarter of a Pound of Raisins
That soon afterwards another person also now present who
calls himself Daniel Chambers< no role >
came in and placed
himself [..] before this InformantThat said Jones
stood by the side of the said Chambers whilst this
Informantwhichduring the time he was weighing the
said Raisins at which time he is very sure a large
Cannister containing a Quantity of Tea was against
some Casks in this Informants said ShopThat the said
John Snowball< no role >
his Son came in and observed to this
Informant that the said Cannister had been moved out
of its usual Place and that he suspected the said Jones
and Chambers meant to steal the same on which this
Informant perceived said Cannister of Tea to have been
moved about two YardsAnd the said John Snowball< no role >
says that he perceived said Cannister of Tea had been
moved and saw said Jones and Chambers in his said Fathers
ShopThat no other Persons being in the Shop but said
Chambers and Jones he immediately caused them to
be taken into Custody
