Middlesex to wit

The Information of Margaret Carnthers< no role > Ann Arnett< no role >
and James Stockport< no role > taken before me this 17th. day
of March 1783

Who on their Oath say and first the said Margaret Carnthers< no role > says
that about six o'Clock on Thursday evening last a Man came to her
House in Fountain Court in the Strand , pretending to take Lodgings, and
after talking with this Informant some time about her Lodgings
went away saying "he would send his Servant in half an hour
or call himself". That about the time mentioned the said Man came
again bringing with him another person now present [..]
who calls himself John Kellan< no role > , alias John Herbert< no role > Keeling,
& telling this Informant that he had brought his Friend to look
at the Lodgings. That they both went in to the parlour, when
the first mentioned Man desired this Informant to permit his Friend to
go upstairs to which this Informant consented, That after the said
two Men and this Informant had quitted the parlour intending to
go upstairs the said Kellan returned into the parlour immediately
after which this Informants Nephew cried out that Kellan was
a Theifs and that he had got something" at which instant
Kellan was running upstairs close to this Informant. That
this Informant laid hold of Kellan, as did her Nephew, when
he attempted to give a Sword now produced (and which was then
concealed under his Coat) to this Companion whose him, but instead
thereof it fell in the Scuffle. That after this (the Street Door being
open, and for want of Assistance) they both ran out, but said
Kellan was secured in the Street. And the said Ann Arnott< no role >
says that she is a Servant in said Margaret Carnther< no role > 's house
and is very sure that the Sword now produced is the property
of George Ronpell Esqr . now that it was hanging up in
the front parlour of her House at the time when said Men
