The Information of Charles Smith< no role > of the Hamlet
of Poplar and Blackwall Waterman
and William Lee< no role > of the same Place Ropemaker
takenonbefore us two of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace acting in and for the said County
this 15th day of March 1783

Who being upon Oath say and First the said Charles Smith< no role >
for himself Saith that in the Night of Monday the 10th
day of March Instant between the Hours of twelve
and one being going home to his House at Blackwall
aforesaid in Company with John Nisan and William
Smith
< no role > they met with Thomas Dickenson< no role > who Informed in
this Informant and the others that he had seen
on Man throw a Bundle from off his Back into the Fields adjoining
thatandon his Examining it he had found it to be Yarn
That soon after he this Informant saw a two Men
with Bundles on their Backs go into the House of
the saidJane Warwicks hall at Blackwall
afsd That he is Sure the last Man that went into sd House
is the Person now present who calls himself
Mark Boyle< no role > That he handled the said Bundle on his Back
and found it was Yarn, saith that he Suspected that
the said Yarn had been Stolen from the Rope Walk
or Warehouses of Messrs. John Perry< no role > and Joseph
Hankey
< no role > Esqrs That he this Informant and the said
John Vivan< no role > and Wm. Smith went and called up Mr Loe Ropemaker
to the said John Perry< no role > and Joseph Hankey< no role > and
Informed him what they had seen That John Vivan< no role >
and the said Mr. Loe went one Way and he this
Informant and the said William Smith< no role > went
another way in Order to Detect the Thieves, That
hethisand the said Wm. Smith found two more
