Taken on Oath before
me one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace
for the
said County of Middlesex
the 12th day of February 1783
This Informant William Sadcole on his Oath saith That he is one of the
Churchwardens of the Parish of Enfield
in the said County of
Middlesex
and Saith That in the night of the Twenty eighth
day of December last Fifteen Oak Trees likely to become
Timber Trees growing and being on the allotment of the
Chace situate in the Parish of Enfield
aforesaid belonging to the
Churchwardens of the Parish Church of Enfield
aforesaid
were feloniously cut down and carried away And further
Saith That he verily believes and suspects that Aaron
Patrick< no role >
of Enfield
aforesaid Yeoman was principally
concerned in cutting down and carrying away the said
Oak Trees.
And this Informant John Scott< no role >
Saith That some time in
January last but the particular day he doth not recollect
by Virtue of a Warrant to search the Premisses of the said
Aaron Patrick< no role >
at Enfield
aforesaid for a Quantity of Stolen
Wood this Informant on such Search found Twenty nine Oak
Trees on the said Aaron Patricks Premisses and in his Possession
which Trees this Informant verily believes had been cut down
on the Allotment of the Chace belonging to the Parish aforesaid
and that some of the said Trees so found by him were part of
these above mentioned by the said William Sadcole< no role >
to have been
Feloniously cut down as aforesaid.
