Middlesex (to Wit)


The Information of John Morris< no role > taken and
made on Oath before me one of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace in and for the County of
Middlesex the 13th. day of September 1781.

This Informant on his Oath saith that he is a Carpenter
and works for William Beer< no role > of Bunhill Row Saint
Lukes. That from the twenty seventh day of August
last by the Order of his Master he has been employed
on the Repair of a House belonging to Mr. James Cranch
at Bishop Bonners at Bethnal Green in the said County.
That since he has been there at Work, at different
times there hath been feloniously Stolen several pieces
of Lead the property of the said James Cranch from the
said House, and which had been taken off the Top
of the House by some of the Worksmen, where it [..]
had been placed as a Gutter. That he verily believes
and suspects that one Joseph Freeman< no role > & Bricklayer
who was likewise employed in repairing the said Houses
was concerned in stealing the said Lead, That he was
informed by Mr. Cranch last Night that he had found
some of his Lead in a Bag concealed in a Ditch in a
field near the House and that the Person who had taken
it had left it there, with Intent to take it way at another
Opportunity, that he had taken the Lead of out of the Bag
and had filled it with Bricks, and desired this Informing
to watch and defect the Person who should come
to take it away. That this Examinant waited near
