before me this 4th. day of June 1781
Who being upon Oath say, and further said Margaret Mason< no role >
says that about one Clock on Tuesday Morning the 29th of May last a
person now present who calls himself James Watts< no role >
came to her house
and asked if she had a Bed at Liberty-Says that she shewed him
into a one pair of stairs bed Room and left him there (at which time
she is very sure a white Cotton Counter pane now produced together with
a pair of head Curtains were in said Room)- That about 9 o Clock
she went up into said Room, having been told that said Watts was gone, and
on entering the Room found that said Counterpane and the pair of
head Curtains were stolen away-and the said John Purchase< no role >
says
that on the said Tuesday Morning the 29th.. of May the said James
Watts< no role >
pawned with him the said Counter pane for half a Guinea
