Dwelling House

Francis Gaines< no role > Butler to the Honourable Charles Fitzroy Scudamore< no role >
the Prosecutor abovementioned Maketh Oath that his Masters house Situate in
Albemarle Street in the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square in the County of
Middlesex was Burglariously Broke open and Entered in the Night of the fourth
day of March last and that a Considerable Quantity of Plate was then Stolen
thereout to the Amount of two hundred pounds or thereabouts and Saith that
the said Edward Jones< no role > and John Hawkins< no role > were apprehended for the said Burglary
and Robbery about the beginning of this Instant April and further Saith that
one Isaac Sampson a Jew is a Material Witness in this prosecution against
the said Edward Jones< no role > and John Hawkins< no role > without whose Testimony the
Prosecutor cannot Safely Proceed to the Trial of the said Edward Jones< no role > and
John Hawkins< no role > or either of them and this Deponent hath been informed and
which Information he Verily believes to be true that the said Isaac Sampson
is now in Holland so that he Cannot have the benefit of his Testimony at the
Present Session Against the said Edward Jones< no role > and John Hawkins< no role > And
this Deponent also Saith that he hath his Masters Orders to go himself or
Send a Proper Person to Holland for the said Isaac Sampson and Saith he
will use his Utmost Endeavours to Cause the Said Isaac Sampson to be
brought from Holland to give Evidence at the next Session against the said
Edward Jones< no role > and John Hawkins< no role > and Verily believes he Shall be able to
Produce him at the next Session for that Purpose and Saith that a Mr. Myers
one of the head Rulers of the Synagogue has Undertaken that he will use all
the Influence in his Power for the Appearance of the Said Isaac Sampson
as a Witness against the next Session on the Tryal of the said Edward Jones< no role >
and John Hawkins< no role > and lastly this Deponent Saith that he believes there
is not Sufficient Evidence to find a Bill of Indictment against the said Edward
Jones
< no role > and John Hawkins< no role > without the Testimony of the said Isaac Sampson< no role >
