The Information of James Sea brook taken on Oath before
us two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
in and for
the said County this 11th: day of May 1773
Who saith that he is an Hackney Coachman
and employed
by one Mr Philpot who keeps Hackney Coaches and that
on Thursday the Sixth instant being on the stand in
Catherine Street in the Strand
he was hired by two Gentleman
and two Ladies and took them into his Coach a Door or
two from the New Church in the Strand
aforesaid and then
one of the Gentleman assisted him in putting a Box in
to the boot of his said Coach Saith that he was then
Ordered to drive to Newgate Street
which he did
and there put the said two Gentleman
, and Ladies down
saith that at the time and whilst they were getting
out of his Coach he well remember the said Box to be in
the Boot of his said Coach Saith that he waited there
some time during which The Box was Stolen and taken
away from and out of the Boot of his said Coach
saith that when he was first hired it was about Eight
o' Clock in the Evening that he proceded directly to
Newgate Street
aforesaid and that he Misd the said
Box [..] a little before nine of the same Evening
