The Information of John Carryl< no role > taken
before me this 5th. day of February 1772

Who being upon Oath Says that last Friday Evening three persons now
present who call themselves Edward Smith< no role > John Jennings< no role > and John Birch< no role >
were in the Piazza Covent Garden with this Informant, that the Said Edward
Smith
< no role > picked a Gentleman's Pocket of a red Pocket Book with a Silver Clasp
and put it under his Coat that the Said John Jennings< no role > took the Said Book
from the Said Edward Smith< no role > and run away with it into the Market Place in
Covent Garden and this Informant and the Said Edward Smith< no role > and the Said John
Birch
< no role > and this Informant all went with him there: that the Said James
Jennings
< no role > opened the Said Pocket Book and a Locket now produced fell out
of it and they looked at Several Papers in the Said Book, that they all
four then went together immediately to the Lodging of catherine Graham< no role >
in Westminster now present where they found the Said Catherine Graham< no role >
and another person now present who calls herself Margaret Mitchener
that the Said James Jennings< no role > delivered the Said Pocket Book to the Said
Catherine Graham< no role > who read over Some of the Papers contained therein and
Said that two of them were Lottery Tickets and one was a Fifty pounds
Bank Note and then the Said Catherine Graham< no role > put the Said Pocket
Book and Some of the Said Papers into the Fire Place, and that the
Said Margaret Mitchener set fire to them and they were burnt: that then
the Said Edward Smith< no role > James Jennings< no role > John Birch< no role > and this Informant
came to the Sign of the Hope in Bow Street and the Said Margaret
Mitchener
< no role > and Catherine Graham< no role > very soon followed them, that the
Said Catherine Graham< no role > went away and afterwards the Said Lottery
Tickets were produced by the Said James Jennings< no role > , and this
Informant believes they were burnt by the Said James Jennings< no role >
Says that the Said Edward Smith< no role > James Jennings< no role > John Birch< no role > and
this Informant were all in the Piazza Covent Garden at the Time
before mentioned with Intention to Pick Pockets, and further says
that when the Said James Jennings< no role > delivered the Said Pocket Book
