The Joint & seperate Information of Elizabeth the lawfully
Married Wife of John Greeve< no role > of Park Street Grosvenor
Square within the liberty of Westminster and of Mary
Lewis
< no role > the Domestic Servant to the said Elizabeth Greeve< no role >
taken before me John Spinnage< no role > Esqr. one of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace for the said Countys City & Liberty

Who being seperately Sworn upon their respective Coporal Oath say
and fist the said Elizth. Greeve for herself saith That about two Months
ago she contracted with one William Smith< no role > who lives in that part of
Holborn which is in the County of Middx Upholsterer for a certain
quantity of Household Furniture amounting in the whole to about
the Value of £50 which Goods the said Wm. Smith< no role > afterwards delivered
into this Informants House in Park Street aforesaidSaith that some
little time ago she directed the said Wm. Smith to make out his Bill for
the said Goods which he accordingly did & thereby made this Informants
Debtor by the Name of Elizth. Greeve for the said GoodsSaith that she
objecting to have the said Bill made out in such manner as aforesaid
returned the said Bill to the said Wm. Smith & directed him to alter the
said Bill by making it out in such manner as to make John Greeve
her Husband Debtor for the said Goods which the said Wm. Smith
neglected or delivered to dosaith that about 5 of the Clock in the Evening
of the 4th day of this instant March three Men came to her House in
Park Street aforesaid one of whom was the said Wm. Smith who after
rushing into her House one of the said three Men whose Name she
knows not whose Pson she well knows insisted on her going up
Stairs with him saying he wanted to speak with her above Saith
that she accordingly did go up stairs with the said Pson who then
Acquainted her that he was a Bailiff & that he had got a Warrant
against her at the Suit of one Wm. Smith an Upholsterer or used
Words to that or the like purport & Effect Saith that she was so
terrified with these Menaces that she was almost berest of her Sences
Saith that the said three Men one of whom was the said Wm. Smith
immediatly & by force took her away out of her said House & carried
her in a Coach to a place of Confinement in or near Chancery Lane
Saith that she remained in this place of Confinement till about
11 of the Clock the same Night under all the Horrow that can Possibly
be conceived being almost every Minute threatned by the sd. Wm. Smith
& the other Men with being immediately carried to Newgate unless she
would immediatly consent to Subscribe a paper purporting to be a
resignation to the said Wm. Smith of the Goods that she had as
aforesaid bought of him and which he had delivered into her House
