taken before me this 9th. day of March 1768
Who being on Oath severally say and first the said Charles for himself says
that on Wednesday Evening the second of March a person now present who
calls himself George Ambler< no role >
was drinking at his house and went away about
8 or 9 o'Clock, that about 12 o'Clock the same Night this Informant found
that a Sliver Tankard had been stolen out of his house that on the Thursday Evening
following he was informed that such a Tankard as had been stolen from how
had been offered for Sale on the said Thursday, that he went according to the
Intelligence given him of the Lodgings of the person who had so offered the
said Tankard and found the said George Ambler< no role >
in Bed, that on accusing him
with stealing the said Tankard he confessed the same and said it was then in
a Box in another Room, that he this Informant went and found the Tankard
now producedon the said(which is the same so stolen as above mentioned) on
the said Box, and does therefore suspect and verily believe that the said
George Ambler< no role >
is the person who stole the said Tankardand the said Thomas
Roylance< no role >
for himself says that he went with the said Charles Dean< no role >
to
Search the Lodgings of the said George Ambler< no role >
and found things as
above described by Mr. Dean
