Justices of the peace
for the County
aforesaid
Who being upon Oath saith that this Day about noon this
Informt. hearing a Noise in an Adjoining Room next the
Stair Case in his Dwelling house This Informt. Imediately
came out of a Closett where he was then at Work in an
Outer Room where a Coat and other Apparel of this
Informt. was laid and mised a Coat with Metal Buttons
And this Informt. saith he directly went out in pursuit of
the person that had stolen the said Coat & in about Ten
Minuits came up with the Woman now present who Calls
herself Mary Smith< no role >
who this Informt. asked if she had
seen any person with a Coat answering the Description of
the Coat he had lost & she thereupon told this Informt. that
there was some [..] people dealing for such a Coat in the
next Street but she did not offer to produce the Coat to this
Informt. till he asked her what she had in her Apron & thereon
she opened it & then this Informt. saw his own Coat And this
Informt. verily bels. the said Mary Smith< no role >
is the person that
Stole the said Coat from this Informt.
