An Inquisition intended taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of St. Mary la bonne
in the County of Middlesex , the 21st. Day of April in the 23d Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the third , by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, KING, Defender of
the Faith, Etc. before Edward Umfreville< no role > Esqr . one of the Coroner of Our said Lord
the KING, for the said County, on view of the body of George James Riddell< no role >
then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Samuel Elliott< no role >
Jno. Hooper< no role > , John Hayter< no role > , Francis Thompson< no role > , Joseph Walker< no role > , Richd. Carr< no role >
Chas. Heath< no role > , Willm. Arrow< no role > , Saml. Norgrove< no role > , Fielding Empson< no role > , Jno. Russell< no role >
Chas. Hayley< no role > , Jno. Sisson< no role > , Heny. Cooper< no role > , and Thomas South< no role >

good and lawful Men of the said County duly chosen as by Law required, and who being then and there duly sworn
and charged to enquire for our said Lord the KING, when, how, and by what means the said George Jas. Riddel
came to h is Death, Do upon their Oath say, That David Cuningham< no role >
Esqr . late of the Parish and County aforesaid on the 21st. day of April in the
Year aforesaid with Force and Arms at the Parish and in the County aforesaid
in and upon the said George James Riddel in the peace of God and of our said
Lord the King then and there being feloniously did make an assault. And that
the said David Cuningham< no role > a certain Pistol of no Value chared and Loaded
with Gun powder and a Leaden Bullet which he the said David Cuningham< no role >
then and there had and held in his right Hand to and against the Body of
him the said George James Riddel did then and there point and Shoot
off and discharge by means whereof he the said David Cuningham< no role >
feloniously did then and there give unto him the said George James
Riddel with the Leaden Bullet aforesaid shot off and discharged
as aforesaid one mortal Wound penetrating just above the left
Hip Bone and passing through the Abdomen of which he soon
afterwards died And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid
do say that the said George James Riddel in manner and by the
means aforesaid came to his death and not otherwise And that the
said David Cuningham< no role > at the time of the doing and committing
the Felony and Manslauter aforesaid or at any time since had no
Goods or Chattes Lands or Tenements within the said County to the
Knowledge or Notice of the said Jurors.

In Witness whereof, as well the said Coroner, as the said Samuel Elliott< no role > the Foreman of
the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisition set their
Hands and Seals the Day and Year first abovementioned
