Depositions of Witnesses taken at London that is to
say at the parish of Saint Bartholomew the Less in
the Ward of Farringdon without in London
aforesaid this 8th. day of February 1799 on view of
the body of Thomas Askins< no role > now here lying Dead.

James Sherwin< no role > of No. 38 James Street Bedford Row Gentleman
maketh Oath that he hath known the deced about twenty years
That [..] he hath known the deced since he has been in London which
is between seven and eight yearsthat the deced [..] was
employed in a flatting Mill of Mr Scott of Giltspur street Aldridge of Aldersgate Street
and lately in a flatting Mill of Mr Aldridge of Aldersgate street Scott of Giltspur StreetThat in
the year 1791 the deced kept an Inn at Uttoxeter in Staffordshire
that at that time from what Dept. then saw of the deced and from
what he had seen of the deced at different times since and what
he has heard of the deced he has every reason to believe and think
that the deced was at intervals deranged in his Mind

Elizabeth< no role > wife of Richard Cripps< no role > of No. 38 Duke Street in the Parish
of Saint Bartholomew the Lop London Bushmaker maketh Oath that
the deced has lodged in her house about two yearsthat about four
o Clock on Monday afternoon last she saw the deced in the passage of her houses that his
homes were across and he was going towards the Stairs Dept. asked him if
he was unwell he made no answer but seemed to have a Noise in his
throat Dept. led him into her back Parlour Dept. a pisted him in [..]
in a ChairDept. then observed some blood upon the deced hands and
on his Shirt CollarDept. suspected the deced had done some mischief to
himself sent for Mr Chare a Surgeon who came soon afterThat in
about twenty minutes after Mr Chare and another person led the
deced out of the House in order to take him to the Hospital.

Oath that she in a day Name in the Hospitalthat between five and six
O Clock on Monday Evening last the deced was led into the Ward Dept
attends inthat the deced was placed in a Chair That soon after the
Surgeons of the Hospital came and examined the deced that he had a
large cut or wound in his Throat which was droped by the Surgeons and
the such was their put to BedThat Dept. set up with the deced that
