Depositions of Witness taken at the Parish
of Bartholomew the Less in the Ward of
Farrindgon without in London aforesaid the
16th. day of December 794 on view of the Body
of Michael Neale< no role > now here lying Dead

Thomas Yardley< no role > living at his Fathers Edward Yardley< no role >
of No.2 New Inn Passage Houghton Street Clare Market Bookseller
maketh Oath that between seven & eight on Sunday Night last
he one Thomas Martin< no role > a Shoemaker & one Richard Birtles< no role > a Printer were passing
along the strand that near Norfolk Street he observed a Man
whom Dept. believes to be the deced & three No. Men coming
from Charing Cross that they struck every one they came near
that thedecedMan whom Dept. believes to be the deced
appeared to be the most active in striking any one he & the others came
nearthat between Norfolk Street< no role > & Arundell Street the other
Men left the Man (whom Dept. believes to be the deced)
that a great number of People gathered round the Man
whom Dept. believes to be the deced that some person among
the persons so assembled sayed why don't they take him
to the Watchhouse (money the said Man whom Dept.
believes to be the deced) that the deced walked down the
left hand side of Norfolk Street< no role > a great number of People after him that
when he got to the bottom there being no thorough fare he
(the deced) came upon the No. side of thewayStreet & turned
downround a Street wich Dept. believes to be Howard a Street & from
thence he ran down the left hand side of Surry Street as
fast as he could a great number of people following him
that Dept. ran among the rest & when Dept. got to the bottom
of Surrey Street he missed the deced that the Stairs had
been take up & upon Dept. stopping he heard some one
groanDept. called one for Lightswhen a Light came
Dept. went down & found the deced lying in a Hole among
some Brick Work [..] erected for the purpose of making new
Stairsthat he was insensiblebled at his Nose & Ears
a Cut under his Chin& Blood appeared to come from his
Headthat he was taken up into Surrey Street where Dept.
left him
