An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovn Lord the King at London that is to say at
the psh of St. Mary le bow in the Ward of Cordwainer in London aforesaid on the twenty first day of August in the
thirty third year o the reign of our Sovn Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King
defender of he faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of
London and Brough of Southwark on view of the Body of Thomas Pope< no role > now here lying dead by the Oath of Vincent
Boare Thomas Grey< no role > John Leith< no role > James Tring< no role > John Mosely< no role > John Idol< no role > Nathanial Thompson< no role > Richard Gollop< no role >
John Morphy< no role > George Hall< no role > William Johnson< no role > Thomas Latt< no role > Thomas Bigger staff Robert Hillcock< no role > John Masters< no role >
and John Spight good and lawful men of the City of London who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged
to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the sd Thomas Pope< no role > came to his death
say upon their Oath that the said Thomas Pope< no role > not being of sound mind memory and understanding but lunatic and
distracted on the twentieth day of August in the year afsd at the psh & ward afsd in London afsd a certain Pistol Carted
with Gunpowder and or leaden Bullet which he the sd Thomas Pope< no role > in his right hand then & there had and held to and
against the left Breast of him the said Thomas Pope< no role > did then and there shoot off and discharge giving to
himself then and there with the leaden bullett aforesaid so shot off and discharged from the said Pistol by the
force of the Gunpowter aforesaid one mortal wound in and upon the left breast of him the said Thomas Pope< no role >
of theWidthof one Inch and the depth of two in her of which said mortal wound he she said Thomas Pope< no role >
did then and there instantly die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said
Thomas Pope< no role > not being of sound mind memory and understanding but lunatic and distracted did shoot and
Kill himself In Witness whereof as will the sd Coroner as that Vincent Boare the foreman of the sd Jurors
on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have to their Inquisition set their hand
and seals the day year and place first abovewritten.
