London Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say, at the Parish of Saint Bennet
Grace Church Street in the Ward of Bridge
in London aforesaid the 25 day of September
1790 on view of the Body of William Bates< no role >
now here lying dead

Edward Hide< no role > aBodya Carpenter and a Lodger at No. 23
Miles's Lane in the Parish of Saint Michael 's Crooked Lane
London maketh Oath that he hath known the deced about
six Months that he was a Carpenter by Trade that he saw
the deced about a quarter part three OClock thisEvening
Afternoon in a Room in the upper part ofthe Houseand
Empty House belonging to Richarby Francis & Company
of Grace church Street Whole sale Drapers which is now
under Repair that the deced appeared a little
intoxicute with Liquor that the deced went otu of the Room
Dept. & deced were the inintobut where to Dept can't
tell that in about five minute Dept. heard somebody
cry out that Dept. looked out of the Window but saw
nothing that just before the deced went out of the Room as
before stated to (the deced) was employed filling a Bag with
Chips-that soon as Deptbutagain looking out of a
back Room Ring dow belonging to said Empty house he saw the calledthatlying
in the passage of Jesusalem Coath adjoining he said House
that the deced appeared to be dead that Dept and the deced
were upon very good terms-Dept: says he don't believe any
person was near the deced at the time heleftwent out of
said Room

Oath that about three OClock this Afternoon Dept. being
in a Ware house on the Ground Floor of said Richard by & Cors.
house he saw thefallingdeced falling from the upper part
of said house but from what part Dept can't say that the deced
fell upon the Pavement in a Yard belonging to said house
that Dept went to the deced that he fell upon his Back
that he appeared to have reced some injury in back part
of his head the some blood comeing from the back part of
his head that the deced never spoke removed landin the a very
