The Voluntary Examination of Alice Storey< no role > This name instance is in set 2181.
of the Parish of Saint Botolph without Aldgate in the Said
County taken on oath before me one of his Majesties Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County this Twenty fifth day
of May one thousand seven hundred & Seventy Six.

Who Saith That about Ten years ago She this Examinant
was lawfully married to one Thomas Storey< no role > a Gunsmith who
about Three years & half ago left this Examinant & went
to reside at Kingston in Jamaica That She this Examinant
hath never Seen him nor hath he had any Access to her Person
or had any Carnal knowledge of her Body Since he left her
as aforesaid She this Examinant having ever since till within
a few weeks past resided at her Fathers house in the Parish of
St. Andrew Holborn in the Said County Nor doth this Examinant
know or believe nor hath She ever been informed Whether
the Said Thomas Storey< no role > hath ever been in any Part of the
Kingdoms of Great Britain or Ireland Since his Departure
from this Examinant as aforesaid Nor doth She now know nor
hath She been informed Whether he is now dead or living That
the last time She this Examinant heard from him was by a
Letter received from him and dated at Kingston in Jamaica
aforesaid in the month of April one thousand Seven hundred &
Seventy four That about Eleven months ago and not more
one James Fleming< no role > a Butcher who then lodged in the house of
this Examints Father Adam Beale< no role > in Little Grays Inn Lane
Holborn in the Sd County Where this Examinant also then lived
did prevail with this Examinant to Suffer him the said James
Fleming
< no role > to lie with her & to have Carnal knowledge of her
Body Whereby She Conceived with Child of a Male Bastard
Child of Which She was delivered in the Workhouse of the Said
Parish of St. Botolph Aldgate on the twelfth of April last past
The which child hath been Since Baptised & registered by the name
of William Storey< no role > This name instance is in set 349. & is become Chargeable to the Said Parish
of Saint Botolph She this Examinant being Poor & not able to
Provide for the Same That the said James Fleming< no role > is the true &
only Father of the Said Child that this Examination is Voluntary
& that she hath not been Compelled to be examined by any Person or
persons Whomsoever.
