Resolved that the President and Treasurer be furnished with Copies of the
Resolutions of this Court of the 29th January 1795 and the 4th February instant
respecting the Commitment of Vagrants and of Sick and Lame Persons incapable
of Labor to this Hospital and that they be requested to lay the same before the
next Court of Aldermen and use their best endeavours to procure some effectual
remedy for the evils complained of

The Treasurer acquainted the Court that having seen a Portrait of the
President, painted by Gainsborough, Depont he had expressed a wish that he might
have an Opportunity of viewing it in the Great Hall at Bridewell and that
the President had thereupon said he should think himself highly flattered
if the Governors would do him the Honor to accept the Picture and allow it
a place in their Hall among those of his Predecessors

To be placed in
the Hall.


Whereupon the Court resolved unanimously that the Treasurer be
requested to communicate the Thanks of this Court to the President for his
obliging offer and Ordered the said Picture to be placed in a proper situation
in the Hall of this Hospital under the direction of the House Committee

The Minutes of the Prison Committee of the 11th. February were read and
confirmed whereby it appeared

That the Committee had approved the Plans elevations and
Sections for the Mens Prison and ordered that the Surveyor should
give directions to have the Old Buildings pulled down and the
