THE PRESENT PRIVILEGES, ANNUAL SALARIES and
EMOLUMENTS of the OFFICERS, SERVANTS, Etc. of
BRIDEWELL and BETHLEM HOSPITALS, 1791.

THE PRESIDENT, has the sole, Appointment of Two Governors annually.

TREASURER, the Appointment of one Governor annually, and that of the Workmen
and some of the Tradesmen; and of all the Men and Women Servants at Bethlem,
under the Porter and Matron; he has likewise a House, Coach House, and Stables,
with Fixtures and all Repairs, free of Charges for Lamps, Water, Commutation
and other Taxes.

AUDITOR GENERAL, the Appointment of one Governor annually, and a House to
reside in, upon the same Terms as the Treasurer.

CLERK, A House to reside in as above (lately let) and a Salary of300 0 0
for reading Charges to New Governors One Guinea each: Fees for
himself and Clerk paid by the Steward of the Annual Feast
£ [..] 6d.-Stationary; making out Leases, Etc. to about 200
Tenants, and General Solicitor to the Hospitals.

N.B. There x present two Joint Clerks, one of whom constantly re
sides in the Country, and the other labours under great Indisposition.

SURVEYOR, a Salary of50 0 0

And charges for Surveys, Views and Plans, a Poundage on all
Workmen's Bills (which, upon an Average for the last Ten
Years, amounted to £.117. 111. 6d. each Year).

PHYSICIAN, a Salary of100 0 0

SURGEON, A Salary of £.90. and for a Dinner at Easter 10s.90 10 0

APOTHECARY, a Salary of100 0 0

A House, clear of Taxes, repaired and furnished with all Necessaries;
a Garden kept in Order; Coals, Candles, Beer, Etc. and Provisions
for himself and Servants.

PREACHER, a Salary of170 0 0

A House and State free of Taxes and Repairs, Parochial Dues and
Fees; and £.2. .2s. paid by the Annual Stewards for a Sermon.

READER and SCHOOL MASTER, a Salary of110 0 0

A House and Stable as above, and a Guinea for reading Prayers on
the Feast Day, paid by the Stewards; some small Fees and Dues.

MATRON of BRIDEWELL, a House as above, with a Salary of 60 0 0

About 5 Children of Coals, a I 50 Pounds of Soap; and Turnery
Ware; tar, 6d. from the Annual Stewards, and a Charge for
Did of Sick Prisoners.

N.B. The Committee find the Porter and Matron to be old and
very infirm.
