Apprentices Petition
Referred to Mr treasurer


having been for a long while deprived of the Liberty
and Indulgences they used to enjoy on Account of too-
wanton A Use being made of them beg the Permission of
approaching your Worships with sincere sorrow for what
has past and promising strictly to Conform to your Orders
in future. That your Petitioners hope they shall be
believed in their Professions when it is considered they have-
already conformed to them, and have endeavoured to
Convince your Whorships by their Obedience that they wish-
and study to regain your favor. That your Petitioners-
feel themselves extremely unhappy in being debarred
from going to see their respective Friends on Sundays
and taking a little Walk of an Evening as they usually
did. That your Petitioners do not wish to screen
the Guilty from Punishment but think it is hard the
whole should suffer for a few. Your Petitioners-
therefore hope your Worships will grant them relief from
this their confinement, promising to take the utmost Care-
in future not to offend themselves and to keep if possible
the Funiors in proper Order, they hope your Worships will
forgive their past Errors and relying on their Promises
restore them once more to your favor. In Gratitude for
which your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever Pray.

It is Ordered that the Consideration of the said Petition
be referred to Nathl. Thomas< no role > Esqr . Aldr . treasurer and
that he be desired to do therein as he shall think proper.

Upon Reading the humble Petition of
John Mercer< no role > Citizen and weaver Setting forth That
he served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to William
Dell
< no role > by Indenture dated 28th. February 1749 and by
Order of Court of the 27th. April 1757 was made free of
this City the 4th. day of October 1763 was set up for
