. Mr. Deputy Rogers and the Revd Mr.
Wight in the words and figures following. '' In Pursuance of
an Order of Court bearing date the 7th day of October last whereby
it was referred to this Committee to Consider what are or ought to be
the duty Salary and Perquisites of the Porters Man
of Bridewell
Hospital We have proceeded to Inquire into the Several matters
above referred to us and do find that the following Rules and
Orders have been made and are now Subsisiting relating to his duly
and Office which we are of Opinion are necessary to be confirmed &
established (that is to say)
To attend Divine Service on Sabbath Days
To take care the Gates are Locked up every Night at 6 o'Clock
in the Evening during the Months of September, October, November,
December, January, February and March and at 9 o Clock in the
Evening during the Months of April, May, June, July, and
August and to Attend the same until the proper Watch comes on
To Let the Prisoner out every Morning to their Labour & to Serve
them with their Provisions & to lock them up every Night
To Sweep the Gates and Square every Saturday
To Watch at Night and to Attend the Gates all Publick
Holidays.
To go with the Engine when Ordered to a Fire
To go with the Provisions before the respective Justices.
To fetch the Doctor Surgeon or Apothecary for them when
Sick or Lame All which is nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment
of the Court.'' This Court having duly weight & Consider
the Said Report doth Confirm the Same.
