Continued Wednesday 1st. October 1777.

prior to the last four Months Mr. Horne gave him a few Shillings
which were put in the Poors Box. That the reason he kept no Account
was that he never expected to be paid. That he never was fond of the
Job in his life time but did not chose to Affront Mr. Horne he being an
Old Governor. And Mr. Horne being asked what he had to say to the
Charged brought against him said he never intended to rod the Charity
He hoped no Gentleman would think he had the meanness to have
any thing from the Hospital without paying for it. That he never
had more than Six or eight Joinst of Meat from the Hospital and if
the Steward could not give him an Account of what Provisions were
sent him he could and would do it and urged many good Services he
had done by his many Attendances at the Hospital and that in the
several Articles of Provisions of Meat, Meal Oat Meal and small Beer as also
in Candles, he had saved the Hospital many Hundred Pounds and
that further he had received the thanks of a General Court for his Services; and
Mr. Rashfield being again called in and asked, whether Mr. Horne
had ever applied to him for an Account of the Provisions sent to his
House, he Answered, never, and that Mr. Horne never required any
Account, where upon Mr. Horne withdrew. It is with the
utmost concern that your Memorialists Observe the great Injury
done by these bad Pratices All which is nevertheless Submitted
to the Judgment of the Court'' And upon debate of the matter
and hearing the Evidence of Reynold Davis< no role > Porter , John Miles< no role > ,
and Watkin Walters< no role > Assistant Basketmen Mr. John Gozna< no role >
Apothecary and Mr. William Rashfield< no role > Steward of Bethlem Hospital
and also upon hearing what Mr. Horne had to say in his defence
who having withdrawn from the Court a Motion was made and
Seconded.

That it is the Opinion of this COurt that the facts contained
in the said Memorial have been fully proved.

And the Question being put upon holding up of Hands it
passed in the Affirmative.

Whereupon and upon further debate another motion
was made and seconded
