Mr treasurer having by the desire of the House Committee
recommended William Young< no role > late Apprentice to Jeffry Gillingham< no role >
Pinmaker to this Court as an Object of Charity not being Intitled to Mr
Locks Gift as he does not follow the Business of a Pinmaker but a
Tickets Porter being disabled therefrom by the Loss of one Eye and the
Court having Examined the said Wm. Young< no role > and he appearing to be in
great distress doth Order that the Steward do pay him Five pounds
to be allowed him in his next Account.

Upon Reading the Humble Petition of John Hanson< no role >
Citizen and Pinmaker Setting forth That he served his Apprentiship
in this Hospital to Joseph Sharp< no role > late one of the Artsmasters by
Indenture date 1st. January 1767 and by Order of Court 9th June 1774
was made free of this City 28th June 1774 was set up for himself in his
Trade at No. 4 Parsons Court Bride Lane had received Mr. Fowkes
Gift and Praying Mr. Locks Gift It is Ordered That Edward
Umfreville
< no role > Esqr Charles Vere< no role > Esqr . & Mr. Cumberlodge or any two of
them be desired to Inquire if the said John Hanson< no role > be set up for
himself in his said Trade and of his hopefulness therein and Report
the same to the Court.

Upon Reading a Petition of the Inhabitants of
Bridewell Hospital and Precinct in the Words and figures following
Vizt. "That the last year your Worships were pleased to allow an
Additional Sum of £36 towards defraying the expences of the poor Watch
Scavenger and other incidental Expences That notwithstanding such
Additional Aid your Petitioners made an over rate of one Shilling in the
pound on all the Inhabitants of the said Hospital and Precinct. That the
Poors rate has been gradually Increasing for several years chiefly owing
to the decrease of Artsmaster and several Houses in the Precinct being pulled
down or in Ruins Uninhabited and not rateable That your Petitioners
have been under the necessity of borrowing £50 to defray the Expences of
the present year Exclusive of the over rate of one Shilling in the
pound and praying the same Additional aid"It is Ordered
that it be referred to the House Committee to consider the same and
report their Opinion thereon to this Court.
