Upon Reading an Extract of the Will of
Mary Dunbar< no role >
of
Kelvedon
in the County of Essex
bearing date the 2d. day of January 1773
in
the Words following, that is to say, Also I Will and Direct the sum of
£100 to be paid to the said
Benjamin Joscelyne< no role >
in 12 Months after my
decease upon this special Trust and Confidence nevertheless that he the
said

his Exors or Admors shall and do lay out &
Invest the said Sum of £100 in some or one of the Publick Stocks or
Funds or put or place out the same upon Government or nat Security
in his or their Name or Names and pay the Interest Dividends Profits
and Annual produce there of unto the governors
of Bethlem Hospital
to be by them for ever paid and applied in and towards the Support
of the poor Incurables in the said Hospital" and it being Represented
to the Court that Mr.

the Sole Executor was desirous
of paying the said Legacy to the governors
of the Hospital of Bethlem
instead of being at the trouble of Investing the same in the Public
Funds and from time to time receiving and paying over the Dividends
This Court doth Order that Mr treasurer
be desired to Receive the
said Legacy of £100 from the said Mr Joscelyne and that he
give a Discharge for the same and it is further Ordered that the said
£100 be carried to the Account and placed to the Credit of the Poor
Incurables harboured in the said Hospital

of Christs Hospital
and of
the Hospitals of Bridewell
and Bethlem
To the Right Honourable the Lord
Mayor Alderman & Commons of the City of London
in Common Council Assembled
setting forth" That the Mayor and Commonally and Citizens of the City of London
by their Indenture of Lease bearing date the 2d. July 1717 In Consn. of the Govrs. of the
sd. Hospitals having surrendered to be concelled a Lease dated the 9th. May 1671

Citizen and Alderman of London of a Piece or Parcel of
Ground with the Appurts in Water course Lane
in the Parish of Saint Dunston in
the East
within the City of London
for 71 Years from Michs. then next at the Yearly
Rent of £4 wherein was about 27 Years to come at Michs. 1715 wherein formerly
stood a Messe which was destroyed by the Fire in 1715 And in Consn. of the said
Govrs. having rebuilt the sd. Messe an Additional Number of Years being for
that purpose the made to the said Govrs. they sd. Mayor and Commonally and
Citizens of the City of London
demised All that piece of Ground in Water course Lane
whereon stood the said Messe before the Fire then in the Occupation of
Richd. Tidlen< no role >
Contg. in Breadth in the front next Water course Lane from certain Ground belonging
to the sd. Hospitals on the North side to other Ground of the City's on the South
17 Feet 7 Inches and backwards 16 Feet and in length on the South side 76 Feet
3 Inches and on the North side 74 Feet To hold the said Piece or parcel of
Ground with the sd. Messe & the Appurts unto the sd. Mayor & Commonalty &
Citizens of the City of London
Govrs. of the Hospitals aforesd. from Michas 1751 for
61 Years at the yearly Rent of £4 which Lease will expire on the 10th October 1776
That the sd. Piece of Ground & Messe being an Accomodation to the sd. Hospitals in
respect to their Estates adjoining thereto The Petitioners therefor humbly pray that
this Honble Court will be Pleased to take the Premes into Consn. & to Grant the
Petrs. such further term & on such conditions as to this Honble Court shall seem
meet" It is Ordered that Mr. treasurer
or the Clerk do concur with the
treasurer
and Clerk of Christs Hospital in procuring a Lease from the
Corporation of London of the before mentioned Premises
