Petition to Assign
Lease Granted


Upon Reading the Humble Petition of Mr. Francis Magnus< no role > Setting
forth That the governors of this Hospital on the 9th. day of March last
Contracted with the Petitioner to demise to him his Executors Administrators
and Assigns from Lady day 1771 for the Term of 21 Years All that Messuage
or Tenement situate in Lime Street Square in the City of London at and
under the Yearly Rent of £24 payable as therein mentioned the said
Petitioner entring into the usual Covenants contained in Leases granted to
the Tenants of the Hospital of Bethlem That the Petitioner had agreed
with Thomas Powell< no role > of Little St. Helens Esqr . to Assign over to him All his
Interest and Benefit in the said Contract if the Court should Please
And Praying that the Lease of said Premises might be made & Granted
to the said Thomas Powell< no role > instead of the Petitioner This Court
having duly Weighed and Considred of the said Petition doth Order that
the Lease be made to the said Thomas Powell< no role > according to the Prayer of
the said Petition

Edward Umfreville< no role > and Charles Vere< no role > Esqr s. two of the governors
Reported that in pursuance of an Order of Court of the 28th. day of
June last they had made an Inquiry and found that John Curtis< no role >
who Serv'd his Apprentiship in this Hospital to the late Mr. Sutton
Sharpe
< no role > & Mr Joseph Sharpe< no role > is set up for himself in his Trade and
has the Character of a diligent and Sober Man It is Ordered
that the Steward do pay the said John Curtis< no role > Ten Pounds out of
Mr. Locks Gift to be allowed him in his next Account.

Rigg Richd. to be pd.
£10 Mr. Fowkes Gift


Mr. Deputy Read and Mr. Saml. Bates< no role > two of the governors Reported
that in Pursuance of an Order of Court of the 28th. day of June last they
had made an Inquiry and found that Richd. Rigg< no role > who served his
Apprentiship in this Hospital to William Wilby< no role > Senr. is set up for
himself in his Trade and has the Character of a diligent and Sober
Man It is Ordered that the Clerk do pay the said Richd. Rigg
Ten Pounds out of Mr. Fowkes Gift to be allowed him in his next Account

Bunyard Robt< no role > to
be inquired after for
Mr. Locks Gift


Upon Reading the Humble of Robert Bunyard< no role > Citizen and
Girdler (by Trade a Shoemaker ) Setting forth That he Served his
Apprentiship in the said Hospital to Thomas Sparshott< no role > one of the
Artsmasters by Indenture dated the 16th. of April 1762 and by Order
of Court of the 29th. June 1769 was made free of this City the 7th. day
of July following Had receiv'd Mr. Fowkes Gift and set up for
himself in his Trade at No. 2 Playhouse Yard Black fryars
Praying Mr. Locks Gift It is Ordered that Charles Vere< no role > Esqr .
Edwd. Umfreville< no role > Esqr . & Robt. Fleetwood< no role > Esqr . or any two of them be
desired to inquire if the said Robt. Bunyard< no role > be set up for himself
in his said Trade and of his hopefulness therein and Report the
same to the Court.
