Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House dated the 18th. day of May

Pursuance of an Order of Court the 23d. of July [..] 1756 This Comittee have Examined
and do findThat formerly long Articles and Covenants were made by and between
the Governors and the Artsmasters of this HospitalAnd the Artsmasters and
two Suretys entred into Bonds in the Penalty of £100with a long Condition for
Performance of the ArticlesAnd this Comittee having Considered the same
are of Opinn. that at present there is no Occasion for such Bonds and Suretys
And have prepared a Draught of an Indenture of Agreemt and Covenant which they think
proper to be made by and between the Governors and all the Artsmasters as fellows Vizt.

This Indenture made the day of In the Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign Lord Geo: the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France
and Ireland King Defender of the Faith Etca. And in the year of our Lord 175 Between
The Mayor and Comonalty & Citizens of the City of London Governors of the Passions
Revenues and Goods of the Hospitals of Edward late King of England the 6th.
Christ Bridewell & St. Thos. the Apostle of the one part and
of Bridewell Hospital London of the other part Whereas the sd.
hath been Elected one of the Artsmasters of the sd. Hospital of
Bridewell at a Court there holden by the sd. Governors and for the Conveniency
of his keeping and setting to Work his Apprentices The said Govrs. have
Allotted to him an Appartmt. on the side of
of the said Hospital late in Occupation of (No.) over
the Door consisting of the Rooms following Vizt.

Now this Indenture Witnesseth and the sd. Mayor and Comonally and
Citizens of the said City Governors aforesd. Do hereby Covenant and Agree to & with the

That he shall or may Occupy and Enjoy the said
Roomes and have the Use of the Goods Utensils and things in the Schedule herein
Indorsed mentioned for and during the Term of Seven Years from

If he shalls long
Live and continue an Artsmaster of the said Hospital and not to be Ordered at a
Court held in the sd. Hospital to be Expelled or to Quit or Lease the sd. Hospital
And in Consideration thereof the sd. doth hereby for
himself his Extors and Admors Covenant and Agree to and with the said Mayor
and Comonlty and Citizens of the said City Governors aforesaid in manner and from
following (that he the said) Shot be the said will Dwell
in the said Apartment during the said Term of 7 Years & not Depart from the
said Hospital without the Order or Lycence of the sd. Governors at a Court held
at the sd. Hospital And also will from time to time take and receive into
his Service as Apprentices such and so many Boys as shall be Ordered by a Court
or Comittee of the said Governors of the said Hospital for the time being and
as his said Appartment will conveniently AdmittAnd that he will not
take or Accept any Sum or Sums of Money or other thing whatsoever of or from
any person or persons for or in respect of his taking or keeping of any such
ApprenticeAnd likewise will Comply with all such Orders of Court
and Comittee as now are and shall be made in relation to Artsmasters
And at his own Expence will keep the said Rooms in Repair in the
Flooring Glazing Plaistering and White Washing
