Elected an Artsmaster


At this Court the several humble Petitions of Cornelius Morleir< no role > and
William Simmonds< no role > were and setting forth That they are willing to take
such a number of Apprentices as the Court shall think fit & to keep their
Appartment in repair with Glazing Plaistering and Whiteing at their
own expence as is usually done by the Artsmasters and to comply with
all Orders of the Court and Comee made and to be made in relation
to Artsmasters and praying to be Elected an Artsmaster in the room
of Mr. Benjamin Thatcher< no role > removedThe Governors gave their
Ballots which being cast up, the numbers appeared to be as follows
vizt.

Whereupon the Right Worspll. Robert Willimott< no role > Esqr . Aldr . President
declared the said Cornelius Morleir< no role > duly Elected and it is Ordered that
the said Cornelius Morleir< no role > (upon delivering a Certificate of his Settlemt.
to the Clerk and producing a Copy of his Freedom of this City) be
admitted an Artsmaster of this Hospital untill the next Election day
upon giving Security as is usuall in the like Case and that the
Journeymen which he shall employ in his Trade shall be such as
have served their Apprenticeships in this HospitalAnd it is
further Ordered that he have such Appartment as the Comee of
this House shall think fitt

his Will


The Clerk acquainted this Court that John Aldred< no role > late of Chedington
in the County of Bucks Esqr . deced by his will dated 28th August 1740
bequeathed to St. Thomas's Hospital £2000. and to St. Bartholomews
Hospital £2000 and to Bethlem Hospital £1000. toward the
Maintenance of Incurable persons thee and all the red and residence
of his Estate and Effects he bequeathed to the said three Hospitalls
equallyThat the said Testator did not dye seized of any real
Estate but great part of his Estate consisted of Chattolls real Vizt.
A Colledge Lease for years of a Farm and Long Leases of Ground [..]
of houses and other part in Stocks and other personal Estate
That the Testators two Sisters being his next of him insist that the
Devise of the Chattells real is within the late Statute of Mortman
& therefore void But propose to come into Terms of Agreement to
accept part of the Estate and to confirm the bequest in the Will
Whereupon it is Ondered That Mr. Treasurer be desired in
Concert with the Trears of St. Bartholomew's and St. Thomas's
Hospitals to make such Agreement with the said Testatorsnext
of him as the said Treasurers shall think proper.
