Thomas Smedley< no role > maketh oath That in the
years one thousand Seven hundred & forty four & one thousand
Seven hundred & forty five he lived in & rented a house in Brook
Street in the Hamlet of Ratcliffe in the Parish of Saint Dunstan
Stepney in the County of Middlesex That during Such his
Residence therein he was Charged to & paid Kings Taxes for the
same to one Mr Wilcox who was the Collector of Such Tax and
gave Receipts for the same to this Deponent which were afterwds
delivered upto his Landlord on this Deponts. paying his Rent for
the said house & that by means thereof as he this Depont. is advised
he gained a legal Settlement there That he this Depont. has not Since
rented a house of the yearly Rent of Ten pounds or Served any
Parish office or paid any Poors Rates or Kings Taxes nor to
his knowledge or belief hath he done any Act to gain a
Subsequent Settlement
