599. WILLIAM SOPER proceedingsdefend was indicted for stealing, on the 13th of March , 39 yards of sail-cloth, value 30s. , the goods of George Taylor proceedingsvictim .

GEORGE TAYLOR < no role > . I am a sailcloth-factor , and live in Fenchurch-street . On the 13th of March, about eleven o'clock in the morning, I lost the cloth.

JOHN COOPER < no role > . I am Mr. Taylor's porter. On the 13th of March, I saw the prisoner come into the warehouse, lift the cloth on his shoulder, and walk out with it. I followed him about thirty yards, and secured him with it.

Prisoner's Defence. A gentleman came out, and gave it to me to carry.

GUILTY . Aged 18.
