Examination Text | Mary Ansell aged 75 years lodging at Mr John Greenaway a Taylor opposite Princes Square in Ratcliffe Highway upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Thomas Ansell (who has been dead five years last January) to whom she was married at St Margaret's Church Westminster about 50 years ago, that he lived in and rented an house in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of five years at the yearly rent of 34 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 43 years ago, that he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant nor been a yearly hired servant since the death of her said husband.
