Examination TextMary Bragger aged 20 Years removed from their Parish all Saint Mary Lambeth upon her Oath saith that she was never Married or bound Apprentice that she served from the 18th Day of January 1788 to 30th day of Mark 1789 being Fourteen Months & upwards under a Yearly hiring with Mr Roberts Collier in Castle Court, Strand in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields within the Liberty of Westminster at the Yearly Wages of Six Guineas diet & lodging Saint she quitted , which she hath not been a Yearly hired Seven in any one place for Twelve Months together not done any Act to acquire a subsequent Settlement. And this Examinant upon her Voluntary Oath furth saith that she is now great with Child or are Children which is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become Chargeable to the Parish of Same Martin in the ffields and that Thomas Cosway now a Midshipman one board Majestys ship Cambridge at several Times Tamil Knowledge of her Body , particularly on the 16th Day of April last at which Time or are one of which Times he did beget her with the Child or Children she now goeth with & is Pregnant all & that he the said Thomas Cosway is the true & only ffather therof and no Man else.
