Examination TextCatherine Flaxon aged 31 years destitute of lodging on her oath saith that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Rode a Hair Dresser near the Golden Cross Inn in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one whole year all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 6 pounds and six shillings diet and lodging, quitted the same five years ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Sworn the 10th day of February 1784 before John Collick. [In a different hand:] Jany. 9/89 sent to Mrs Rhodes to inquire into the truth of the above who came forward before the pauper and returned that she lived her time [?] and that both was not more than nine months, was ordered to the justices but ran away.
