Examination TextThe Examination of Margaret Robinson lodging at a house of Mr Reeve let out in tenements in Vine Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 29th day of November in the year 1781. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 33 years of age, that she is the widow of Matthew Robinson (who died about nine years ago), and this Examinant on her oath further saith that she was on the 24th Day of December in the year 1778 delivered at the house of Mrs Ince widow in Pemberton's Alley in the Parish of St. Peter in the town of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster of a Male bastard child (since christened John) yet living, and also that she was on the 28th day of February last delivered of a Male bastard child (since christened Benjamin) at the house of Mr [Galhaliar] in Herrington Street in the said Parish of St. Peter in the town of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster both yet living and are are likely to become chargeable to the Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that John Slater a Hair Dresser at Liverpool aforesaid did beget on her body the said to Male bastard children, and that he the said John Slater is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
