Examination TextElizabeth Wakes aged about 40 years destitute of lodging upon her oath saith that she is the wife of James Wakes (gone from her about 12 months) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Martin in the Fields the 25th day of August in the year 1776, that her said husband was before his intermarriage to this Examinant (he being single and unmarried as she verily believes) a yearly hired servant to the Countess of Albemarle in Spring Gardens in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 14 pounds diet and lodging, that her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since he quitted her Ladyship's service to this Examinant's knowledge. Sworn the 21st Day of December 1781 before William Hyde.
