Examination Text | John Brown aged 58 Years upon his Oath saith that he was bound by an Indenture bearing Date the 16th day of April 1747 to John Carter of Cross Lane. Long Acre in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields within the Liberty of Westminster Wheelwright & served his said Master the whole of the Term of Years out and since the expiration of his said Apprenticeship he hath not rented Ten Pounds by the Year paid any Parliamentary or Parochial Taxes nor done any Act whereby to gain any subsequent Settlement, that he was Married to his late Wife Elizabeth at Mayfair Chapel July by whom he hath one Son to wit, John now in the Marines who was never bound Apprentice. nor done any Act to gain a settlement in his own right.
