Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Moulder Lodging at No.21 in Charles Court in The strand in the Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields Taken this First Day of July 1780. This Examinant on her Oath saith That she is about 32 Years of Age, That she never was Married, That she was a yearly hired servant to Mr. Watts a Comb maker in St Martin?s Court in the parish aforesaid for the space of Fourteen Months all at One Time at the Yearly Wages of forty Shillings diet and Lodging quitted the same about ten years ago, That she never kept house or rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any Parish taxes nor was a yearly hired Servant in any one place for twelve months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary Oath saith That she is now big with Child or Children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, And that Robert Payne Journeyman Taylor lodges at Mrs. Hart in a Court near Southampton Street in the strand had carnal knowledge of her body, But the particular time she cannot remember at the house known by the sign of the White Hart in Hart Street in and upon a Bed in a room up one pair of stairs their and one other time after at the house of Mr. Wiggs in Charles Court in the strand at which time or one of which times the said Robert Paine did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, And that he the said Robert Payne is the true and only Father thereof, And no Man else.
