Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Ann Edwards Removed by an Order of Two of his Majesty?s Justices of the Peace from the Parish of st Matthew Bethnal Green in the county of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the ffields in the same county, Taken this 27th Day of September 1778. This Examinant on her Oath saith That she is 26 years of age, That she is the Widow of John Edwards who died Three Weeks ago to whom she was Married in the Parish Church of St Martin Ludgate in the City of London the Thirteenth Day of April one Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Two, That her said Husband was a Taylor by Trade and served his Apprenticeship to Mr. Wickart a Taylor in St Martin?s Street in the Parish of St Martin in the ffields aforesaid as her said Husband hath Informed [sic] and verily believes to be true, That her said Husband never kept House rented a Tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any Parish Taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for twelve months together after the Expiration of his said apprenticeship to this Examinant?s Knowledge, That she hath two children by her said Husband to wit Isabella aged six years, Nehemiah aged Three years and Elizabeth aged one year and an half all now with this Examinant.
