the 17th. day of October Anno Dnd 1688

Whereas Anthony Matson< no role > late Beadle of this Parish of St Clement Danes
in the County of Middx was (as is supposed) by one or other of the Servants of
the Rt Honble. James Earle< no role > of Salisbury, in an a Fray which happened in Some
part of his Lordspps Mancon house on the 30th day of June last in the night
time) [..] wounded by the discharge of a pistoll, & afterwards dyed, leaveing
behind him a widow and Six Children, and for which fact three of his Lordspps
Servants have had theire tryall lately at the Old Bayly And whereas the sd
Earle out of his Noble and generouse mind hath been pleased to give for
the releife of the said widow and her Children the Sume of One hundred
pounds to be disposed of in manner herein after menconed which
monye John Francis< no role > & Lancelott Copleston< no role > the present Churchwardens
have this day received by the hands of Mr Sadler his Lordspps Received
It is thereupon Ordered that the said Sume of One hundred pounds Doo &
Shall remaine in the hands of the Churchwardens of this parish and be
by them and theire Successors. paid and disposed of from time to time for &
towards the [..] releife & maintenance of the said widow and her Six Children
(namely) Jane, Henry, William, Anthony, Anne, & Mary, in Such Manner
and by such proporcons as the Churchwardens for the time being wth
the approbacon of the Vestry and the Receiver for the time being of
the said Earle and his heires shall thinke most fitt & necessary, and not
to any other use & purpose whatsoever, and in the meane time untill
Such payment and disposicon be made the said widow and her Children
be allowed Interest for the said Monye at six pounds P Cent P ann
and after that rate for soe much of the princepall Sume as shall rest
in theire hands after payment made of any part or parts thereof
to the purposes aforesaid./

Ordred

That the Churchwardens doe receive the said Sume of one hundred
pounds and returne the thanks of this board to his Lordspp for his care
& Charity to ye widow & her Children.
