The Committee for Considering the New Paving Bill intended to be laid
before the next Meeting of Parliament are desirous of knowing the Opinion of
the several Committees on rating or not rating empty Houses to the Paving
Lighting and Cleansing to be sent to the Committee on or before this day fortnight

Westminster Bridge Office December 21st: 1773

A Petition of David Morris< no role > and John Harrison< no role > of Craven
Buildings was presented and read settingforth that by means
of the Pavement being raised at the time the said Buildings
were new Paved they are greatly injured by the Water from the
said Buildings running down the Gateway into Craven Yard
into Vaults and other places belonging to the Petitioners
And the Petitioners are thereby also injured with respect
to the Foundation of their Dwelling Houses and praying
relief Ordered that the Surveyor do View and Report

January 4th. 1774

The Surveyor reported that he had viewed the place
complained of by Messrs. Morris and Harrison in Craven Street
in Drury Lane and is of Opinion that if the Pavement
is raised between Footway and Footway a little at the
Entrance into the Gateway it will prevent the Water running
into the Stable Yard

Ordered that this matter be referred to the Committee
for the Parish of Saint Clement Danes recommending the above
to be done by them under the direction of the Commissioners
Surveyor
