(to wit) Mary Compton< no role > Widow aged 56
years or thereabouts Upon Oath saith that
she was Married to John Compton< no role > a Mathematics
Instrument Maker about 27 or 28 year ago by Bams
at the parish Church of St. Mary Magdalen Bermondsey Surry that he Died about 14 years ago, that she had
one still born Child and another Child who died
in her Infancy in the life time of her said Husband
that since his Death and while she was a Widow
and unmarried having no Child or Children she
lived as an hired yearly Servant with Mr Veale
Decease Court 2 years or thereabouts at the
Annual Wages of £5 that she quitted that
Service between 3 & 4 years ago and hath never
since been Married [..] nor obtained any
subsequent legal settlement
