Wm. Barton< no role > aged about 67 Years on his Oath Says he
Intermarried with Sarah< no role > his late Wife at the Parish Church
of St. Helen in the Borough of Abingdon in the County of
Berks about 39 Years ago by whom he hath Seven Children
(all of whom is now provided for) Says he was bound an
Apprentice to one Wm. Carpue< no role > a Joyner in Easter Court in
the Parish of St. Clement Danes in the Liberty of Westmr.
& County of Middlesex & served his sd. Master Six Years &
an half or thereabouts when his sd. Master went to sea, Saith that about
Six Weeks after this Examinant went to Abingdon in the
County of Berks to see his Mother Diana Barton< no role > & worked as a Journeyman
with one Wm Prayers< no role > there for about Two Years Says that
this Examinants Mother growing Old & Infirm Applyed to this
Examinant to take him in [..] an Assistant & to Carry on the sd.
Business of a Carpenter & Joyner (wch. she Carryed on after
this Examinants father's Death) this Examinant Accordingly
Entered into Articles of Agreemt. to serve & Carry on the sd.
Business at the Yearly Wages of Eighteen Pounds & upwards
Payable Weekly or as this Examinant shod. think Proper
Exclusiveve of board & Ldging & Continued as a Covenanted
Servant with his sd Mother upwards of a Year when this Examinant
soon afterwards Married to his sd late Wife & after his sd.
Intermarriage this Examinant Rented & lived in a House & Shop
in the sd Parish of St. Helen upwards for 28 Years at the Yearly
Rent of £8 & Paid all Land Tax due for the same Says He
