to wit Ann Steere< no role > Aged about Twenty four years on her Oath
says She never was Married Rented House or paid Taxes
Says She lived a hired yearly Servant with One Mr. Lewis in
Cooks Court in the Parish of Saint Clement Danes in the Liberty
of Westminster for One year and Seven Months at the yearly
Wages of Eight Pounds hath quitted her said Service about
Seven Weeks ago since which time She hath gained no other
Subsequent Settlement And further on her Voluntary Oath
says She is Pregnant with Child or Children which is or are
likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to become
Chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Clement Danes She being
Poor and Unable to Maintained the same when born And further
on her Oath says that One Samnee Batten< no role > a Servant to Mr.
Marriett Doctor in Divinity who Lines in upper Berkley Street
Portman Square is the Father thereof He having Carnal
knowledge of Her Body in her said Masters House some time
in the Month of December last but the Particular Day she does
not now remember and at several Different times afterwards at
at one of which times He get her with Child of the Child or Children
of which She is now Pregnant and that the said Samnee Batten< no role >
and no other Person did beget the same and that He is the true
Father thereof.
