Ann Plunkett< no role > aged about Sixty Years one of the Paupers belonging to the
Parish of Saint Clement Danes maketh Oath that on or about the 17th.
of September last a Female Child was found dropped at the
Workhouse door in Carey Street and on this Examinants looking [..]
[..] at the Child believed she knew the same tobe one Ann Matthews< no role >
otherwise Kennedys< no role > and the more so because that on
Undressing the said Child a paper was found in its Bosom
with the Name Wrote thereon Mary Kennedy< no role > and after this
Examinant had given herself some Trouble found out where
the said Ann Matthews< no role > otherwise Kennedy< no role > lived and on
applying to her and asking her how she could be so base and
cruel to drop her Child the said Ann Matthews< no role > otherwise
Kennedy< no role > Answered that the Child was sure to be taken care of
where it was dropped That the Father of the said Child was the [..]
at sea and that on his return which she believed wod. be about
Christmas she wod. take the Child away whither it was in the
Workhouse or at Low Layton And Possitively acknowledged it
to be her Child and that she had so dropped it as before relate
