Lane in the Parish of Saint Giles in the fields Leather
Dyer and Joseph White< no role > of the Strand in the Parish
of Saint Clement Danes Yeoman upon their Oaths
severally say and first this Ext. Rebecca White< no role >
upon her Oath saith that she was married to John
White< no role > her present Husband at Portsea in the County
of Southampton on the 2d. day of Decr. in the year of
our Lord 1782 that she has two Children by her said
Husband now living the One thereof named Joseph< no role >
aged 2 years & 5 Months or thereabouts (and the other
Eleanor< no role > aged 6 years & a half or thereabouts) who
was born a Bastard before her Intermarriage to her
said Husband at the House of one Mr. Tannage
a Shipwright in Cornwall Row in the Parish of
Kingston at Portsea aforesaid and that the said
John White< no role > her now Husband is the only real & true
father of such Child that her said Husband has
deserted her and she is poor and unable to
maintain herself and ChildrenAnd this
Examinant Wm. Baley< no role > for himself saith that
he hath known John White< no role > the Elder the father
of the said John White< no role > the Younger the Husband
of the said Rebecca White< no role > for many years that he well
remembers John White< no role > the Elder lived in the
Parish of all Saints in the City of Worcester Rented
a House and This Examinant Guineas paid Taxes for the same There, and that
the said John White< no role > the younger lived with him
as Part of his family being about Seven years old
when this Examinant last Worcester
And this Ext. Joseph White< no role > for himself saith
that he is the Son of John White< no role > the Elder that
