in Northumberland Street which extends to
Scotland Yard Thomas Bellamy< no role > one of Mr
Woods Servants asked me to step into the Boat
to lend him a hand to a [..] w to the Outside as
he had observed from the Platform Hungerford
that two Men had been taking Coals from
the Craft lying without Mr. Woods
Wharf for near half an hour upon
which went into the Boat to hild [..] John vent< no role > Mr [..] smither and
[..] we rowed up to the Boat in which the
two Men were who were dressed in blue
Jackets and Trowsers and when me
got close to the turn of their Boat thus
had rowed it close to the Barge wherein
the deceased [..] was and
while we were rowing out from Hungerford the
said John Vent< no role > Charged his Blunderbuss
I believe with powder and made Shot
and as the two men were getting out of their
Boat upon the Baye the said John Vent< no role >
discharged his Blunderbuss towards them
but I don't think he wounded either of them
Vent then Loaded his Piece again and get out
of our Boat and left me in Charge of the
Boat

Boat which the [..] men had quitted wherein
there are same Coals and [..] ment
[..] out of the [..] on the Craft about
[..] said
Men made a Stumble on their [..] saw
one of them go to Stair taken in the other
and [..] asind that he fell into the Cabin
and Vent then [..] Ballaing to go into
into the Cabin an twin near out
but be did not. Vent then was her about the
Craft a few minutes and then went to the
Cabin and told the man of he did not come
out he would fire at him and would
shoot him upon which deceased was
coming out [..] the cabin and being upon the hadder he
said I am not afraid to see you or any
Rascal like you, on which the Piece
which Vent had in his hands went off
and I saw the deceased fall backwards
upon which I went of my boat into the
Baye to the deceased and [..]
[..] called to Billings who
Came and threw same Water over the deced
as he lay in the Cabbin to extinguish his
Shirt
