to wit,


An Inquisition indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of John Tranfield< no role > the Sign of the Triumphant Chariot in piccadilly in the parish
of St. George Hanover Square within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church
of St. Peter, Westminster , in the County of Middlesex , the eleventh day of July 1798
in the thirty eighth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third,
by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith,
and so forth, before Anthony Gell< no role > , Esq . Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City
and Liberty, on View of the Body of John Herson then and there
lying dead, upon the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are here under written, and
Seals affixed, good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly chosen, who being then and
there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by
what Means the said John Herron came to h is Death, do upon
their Oath say that the said John Herron on the second day of July in the Year
aforesaid being on the Top of a certain Stage-Coach which was then drawn
by three Horses It so happened that for want of due Carefulness & Cautions
of the Coach man he the said Coachman drove the said Stage-Coach to and
against a certain Cart which was then and there in a common Highway
near Knights bridge Chapel within the Parish and Liberty aforesaid by
Means whereof the said Stage Coach was then and there up-set and the said
John Herron thrown to and agains the Ground thereby then and there receiving divers
Mortal internal and external Bruises and Fractures on the Legs & Body of him the said John
Herron: Of which said Mortal Bruises and Fractures he the said John Herron
from the said second day of July in the Year aforesaid unto the ninth day of
the same Month in the same Year at the Parish and in the Liberty aforesaid To Wit
in Saint George's Hospital that situate, did languish, and languishing did live, On
which said ninth day of July in the Year aforesaid he the said John Herron in the
Hospital aforesaid of the Mortal Bruises and Fractures aforesaid, did die. And
so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the said John Herron in
manner and by the Means aforesaid came to his death and not otherwise, and that the said
Coach was moving to the Death of the said John Herron and is the
Property and in the Possession of Charles Rix< no role > of Putney in the County of
Middlesex Stage Coach Master and of the Value of Forty Shillings

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors, have to this Inqusition
set their Hands and Seals the Day, Year, and Place first above written.
